The Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) and its Maternal, Adolescent and Child Health initiative are sponsoring a three-event speaker series featuring DGHI faculty members as well as guests from other institutions. The events will take place on March 23, March 27 and April 21.

  • Faculty Panel on Reproductive Health Projects at the Duke Global Health Institute
    March 23, 12-1:30pm, John Hope Franklin Center

    In a panel moderated by assistant research professor Joy Noel Baumgartner, DGHI faculty members Megan Huchko, Melissa Watt, Kathy Sikkema and Gita Suneja will discuss some of their current research.

  • The EMPOWER Clinic for Survivors of Sex Trafficking and Sexual Violence
    March 27, 12-1pm, Trent Hall, Duke Global Health Institute
    Veronica Ades, obstetrician-gynecologist and director of global women’s health at the New York University School of Medicine, will discuss sex trafficking and sexual violence and their impact on clinical care and outcomes. She’ll also discuss the model of the EMPOWER Clinic, which provides care for women who have experienced sexual trauma, and how it addresses the unique needs and challenges of this population. This talk is co-sponsored by DGHI's Global Mental Health initiative.
